New Chief of Anesthesiology at Magee Womens Hospital, Jonathan H. Waters M.D.

It gives me great pleasure to welcome Dr. Jonathan Waters, the new Chief of Anesthesiology at Magee Womens Hospital to our Department and Pittsburgh. Dr. Waters moves to Pittsburgh from Cleveland, where he was until recently, Head of the Section of Anesthesia for Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

Dr. Waters received his M.D. at George Washington University and completed his residency at New York University, where he trained with Dr. Ramanathan. Following his residency training Dr. Waters held positions in the US Navy ( Desert Storm), as well as that of Chief of Obstetric Anesthesia at the US Naval Hospital, San Diego. He has also held an academic position at UC Irvine where he was Director of Obstetric Anesthesia. In addition to his interests in obstetric anesthesia, Dr. Waters is also recognized as being a national and international consultant on intraoperative blood salvage. Prior to moving to Pittsburgh, he also held the position of Director of Intraoperative Autotransfusion at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation .

Dr. Waters is married to Janet Robinson M.D. and they have three children - Samuel (9), Sarah (7) and Jack (4).
