We are pleased to announce the selection of Dr. Robert Boretsky for the position of Chief of Anesthesiology, UPMC-Shadyside.  Dr. Boretsky is a 1987graduate of Mercy Hospital's Anesthesiology Residency.  He was Fellowship trained in Cardiac Anesthesiology at the University of Pennsylvania and joined the University of Pittsburgh’s Anesthesiology faculty briefly from 1988-1989 before joining the Mercy Hospital Anesthesiology group.  While at Mercy he served as Chief of Cardiovascular Anesthesiology and Vice-Chairman of the Mercy Heart Institute.  Dr. Boretsky rejoined the University at UPMC-Shadyside hospital in 2000 and quickly established himself as a leader in the department.  He has served as Vice-Chairman and Director of Quality Assurance for the department at UPMC-Shadyside since 2001.  As a recognized leader within the department and throughout the hospital, and with roots within the Shadyside community, he is a natural selection for the position of Chief of Anesthesiology, UPMC-Shadyside Hospital.
