Dr. Erin A. Sullivan, Director Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology, wrote an invited editorial for the Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia. The editorial will be published in the December 2009 issue and is titled: “The Role of the Anesthesiologist in Thoracic Surgery:  We Can Make a Difference!” In this article, Dr. Sullivan explores the role of the thoracic anesthesiologist in improving patient outcomes through various measures. She also encourages anesthesia providers to advocate for their specialty, both among patients and policy makers.
