Dr. Tomas Drabek has been accepted for the American Board of Anesthesiology’s “Alternate Entry Path,” which enables outstanding anesthesiology academicians moving to the United States to become productive members of U.S. academic anesthesiology programs. Under this pilot program, internationally trained and certified anesthesiologists may spend four years in an academic anesthesiology training program to qualify for admission to the ABA initial certification examination system.
Dr. Drabek received his MD in 1991 from the 1st Medical School, Charles University in Prague, Czechoslovakia. He completed his residency in Anesthesiology at the University Hospitals in the Czech republic and Belgium. From 2001–2002, he completed a J.W. Fulbright Fellowship in Emergency Medicine at the University of Minnesota. He joined the University of Pittsburgh in 2004 to pursue resuscitation research at the Safar Center, combined with clinical work at UPMC.
