Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation Publishes Anesthetic Guidelines Developed by Drs. Brandom and Campbell

The Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation (MDF) reports significant morbidity and mortality related to the anesthetic management of myotonic dystrophy patients. The MDF approached Barbara Brandom MD and Neal Campbell, MD to compose anesthetic guidelines for the management of these patients.
Dr. Brandom and Dr. Campbell's guidelines were recently published on the MDF website, http://www.myotonic.org and distributed to families affected by myotonic dystrophy throughout the country.
These anesthetic considerations were critically reviewed by experts in Neurology and Neurologic/Muscular disease. Drs. John Day and Richard Moxley, well-published neurologists on myotonic dystrophy from the University of Minnesota and University of Rochester, respectively, collaborated with Drs. Brandom and Campbell on the document.
