The 4th Mediterranean Transplantation Anesthesiology and Simulation Symposium (MedTASS) will be held at the beautiful and historic Grand Hotel Piazza Borsa in Palermo, Sicily on May 8-9, 2015.
Local, national and international experts will present up-to-date reviews of current standards of practice in the perioperative anesthetic and intensive care management of solid organ transplantation and other major abdominal and thoracic surgeries. Pro/con debates on difficult case presentations will allow active audience participation with a panel of experts. Unique to this conference will be the use of medical simulation to teach and demonstrate critical scenarios encountered in the operating room and intensive care unit in our daily practice. Attendees will participate in interactive sessions dealing with intraoperative decisions in real-time crisis management scenarios.
Department faculty members Antonio Arcadipane, MD (Chief Anesthesiologist & Medical Director, Operating Room Services, IsMeTT) and Raymond M. Planinsic, MD (Professor and Director, Transplantation Anesthesiology, UPMC Presbyterian) will serve as the MedTASS Course Directors.
Many department members at IsMeTT and UPMC faculty Mark E. Hudson, MD, MBA (Associate Professor and Executive Vice Chairman) and Joseph J. Quinlan, MD (Professor and Chief Anesthesiologist, UPMC Presbyterian) will be joined with experts from the top Italian Medical Centers for this two day symposium.
