Pittsburgh Pain Society
Assistant Professor Michael Mangione,
MD has become one of the founding members of the new Pittsburgh
Pain Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to the alleviation of
suffering due to chronic pain through the promotion of education and research
in the field. Dr. Mangione is a Trustee and is also a member of the Board
of Directors. Dr. Jack Kabazie, medical director of the Institute for
Pain Medicine at West Penn Hospital, was recently elected president. Also
on the Board are Drs. John Moossy and Peter Jannetta of the Department
of Neurosurgery, and non-Pitt-faculty Drs. Robert G. Lis, Stanley Marks,
and Donald Whiting. The recently chartered association is planning its
first educational event for this coming autumn. The group plans to present
quarterly lectures, and possibly one larger, annual event. Everyone who
is interested in the management of chronic pain is invited to consider
membership in the Pittsburgh Pain Society. For more information, contact
Dr. Mangione.
