The Division of Anesthesiology at UPMC McKeesport provides anesthesia service in a small hospital setting. Services include both inpatient and outpatient surgeries and an acute pain service for postoperative pain control. The anesthesia service also extends to off-site locations such as the GI Unit, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, and the Invasive Radiology Department. A Chronic Pain Service is available to patients; patients may request consultation for evaluation of chronic pain, epidural steroid injections, and trigger point and peripheral nerve injections. The division responds to all cardiac arrest calls at UPMC McKeesport and to any difficult intubation requests outside the OR. The Division is committed to supporting Surgical Care Improvement Project (SCIP) initiatives and to improving proficiency with the use of supraglottic devices by CRNAs.
